This is very sweet. I love the look on the super hero’s face. “What do I do now that I have this cape on”? Nice work! Today was my first IF submission, too.
Yes, my brother and I struggled with brussels sprout, until we started sprinkling garlic salt on them and then we could eat them. Nice take on this theme!
Great humor and a wonderful how-to. I’ll be you could sell this to a place that deals in royalty-free illustrations. Could easily picture this being used by corporations or in magazines. (Maybe that’s what you do anyway, but thought I’d mention it.) Nice work.
I love the expression on her face! Great colors too and a fun design. 🙂 I don’t drink coffee, but enough dark chocolate can get me just as wired!
Thanks for the comment on my blog.
Very funny! I’d be feeling rather jealous myself if my ice-cream was also sans hot fugde AND whipped cream. Very cute monsters, I like you clean and colorful style very much.
Your illustration is captivating , suits the subject …..and has sent me back to the library to get the whole Philip Pullman series. I am starting the first book, The Golden Compass. Did you know that it will be a movie this winter?
i’ve just re-read the trilogy ginger, and i can’t wait for the movie! (i’ve watched the teaser trailer… looks sooo good!)
the only thing that ruffles my feathers is the changing of the title. it’s the same thing with the first harry potter (the philosopher’s stone changed to sorcerer’s stone) the first book is called northern lights, and the thing is, the althiometer is not a compass! it’s… a teller of truths, a tool of divination! hummm… i am going to be one of those anal fans who goes on rants about this sort of thing i can see it now…

Hah! At first glance I thought it was like a “butcher’s diagram” of polar bear meat cuts…a bit odd. (Shows where my head is at, I guess.) Then I quickly realized it was a suit of armor…and then I read your words and was delighted: I love that trilogy!
Nice illustration. Thanks for the support of my daughter. She is enjoying reading all the comments. Hope to keep her painting.
Good luck with your card company.
just had a quick look around the site- congratulations! It must be so exciting to have it up and running. I especially loved your two snow globe cards.
Congrats – Love the cards and the site. In fact, I’ve just posted off an order form and cheque. I do think ‘apothocary’ would make a great card too. I’d buy it.
I have recently tested positive for HNPCC as well. I am 42, and already had colon cancer when I was 34. I just recently had a hysterectomy due to the risk of uterine and ovarian cancer. After the surgery, they found pre-cancerous cell activity in one ovary.
My brother has it too, and my other siblings are being tested as well.
I am not happy to have this gene, though it is good to know – because now I get tested often and can stay ahead of the game.
For me … I feel vulnerable. The risk factors for other cancers are daunting. I will have to be okay with being lab rat, to survive, however, I will beat this unlike my mother.
If you would like to chat more, please let me know. I do not have a blog yet … though I will soon.
i’ve not starting the lab rat experience yet – not looking forward to it either…. (i know it means that anything will be caught early, so i know it’s a good thing, but i would really rather not…)
i’m still trying to understand the impact this will have on my life.
i’d love to chat more. it would be good to talk with someone else who understands.
Hi Victora, Cool meeting you in Nottingham on saturday. drop me a line on my e-mail address ( I hope you get it ) I know an old friend of yours who would quite like to speak to you again.
Maybe you could sweeeep the short side up casually towards the back and pin it with a BIG FUNKY clip (maybe a diamante one?) so no one would know it wasn’t intended to be even….sorry…is that too cruel a pun?
The diamante bitch needed her arse kicking and you were in shock, poor babe. Tell them you’ll sell your story to the newspapers unles they give you a million pound in compensation.
Brilliant description. You’re right, hairdressers are not telepaths. Though I suspect they can sense fear, and it feeds their evil plans.
When I was 14 a few of my friends did their own “undercuts” – basically shaved the lower half of their head. It looked odd. The “right side” picture reminds me a bit of that. But ruffled up it looks nice, and the hat looks really cool, right time of year for it too.
Not sure what else to say – you look good, but you did look slightly better before.
hi torie. i dont knw if this will work or not! i,ve tried to open yr tango and hollow illustrations but this hosp thing doesn,t seem do much beyond basic! i,m not sure u will get this messge either…
But of course…I like that you have the commitment to yourself to follow through with your challenges. I’m proud of your determination and yes, I love each and every thing you do…and not just because it’s in my job description. I look forward to the continuation of a daily dose of inspiration and a weekly blog to catch up on your musings. Thank you Daughter.
I imagine you reacting to the theft of your bicycle wheel like Sally Hawkins’ Poppy in the film Happy-Go-Lucky: ‘Poppy bicycles effervescently through the streets of London, not a care in the world, before pausing to do some book shopping (and playfully harass the store’s employee). When she finally leaves, she discovers that her bike has been stolen. “I didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye,†she sighs, before moving on, not one to let this small bit of victimization get her down.’ (description shamelessly stolen from http://reverseshot.org/reviews/entry/924/happygolucky as I couldn’t find a YouTube clip of the scene).
This is very sweet. I love the look on the super hero’s face. “What do I do now that I have this cape on”? Nice work! Today was my first IF submission, too.

Great humor and a wonderful how-to. I’ll be you could sell this to a place that deals in royalty-free illustrations. Could easily picture this being used by corporations or in magazines. (Maybe that’s what you do anyway, but thought I’d mention it.) Nice work.

Lovely work you have here, Victoria!
I’ve got two little boys and believe me I’d get starbucks through an IV if I could. Great illustration, I really feel the look on her face.
When my kids were little they used to run around and around the house in a circular pattern! Your illo really captures the frenzy in a fun way!

This made me chuckle. The kids obviously don’t need coffee 🙂

Cute and Sweet! Your pictures call up good childhood/children’s book images.
i really like how you made the “green-eyed monster” look innocent and sweet while the two eat icecream
Adorable cute monsters!
Awww… These two cute guys remind me of a game I used to play when I was a kid. They are adorbale, Victoria 🙂
Too cute! I find their expressions so funny they made me laugh. Love the simple colors, too.
Great find, and very funny too.

Very funny! I’d be feeling rather jealous myself if my ice-cream was also sans hot fugde AND whipped cream. Very cute monsters, I like you clean and colorful style very much.

Love you,

I am very sorry for your loss! These are superb illustrations! Sometimes creating helps…
Wow! These are both beautiful and eloquent in their own different ways.
I’m so very sorry, Victoria, for your loss. Your “hollow” piece is very moving and powerful.
May your art help you through this difficult and sad time…
OMG Massacre at Hairs’R’us!

The ‘Dark Journey’ is so beautifully poignant, it takes my breath away xxx
Neat outfit! I really like the pattern and colors, kind of a jester thing.
